Wilnick started with a row or two of tomatoes, tobacco and groundnuts that Willem Wagner (RIP), a diesel mechanic, planted in 1978 with his father Koos Wagner (RIP) on the latter’s land. Wilnick only really got started when Willem bought his own land in 1980. Everything began on a mere 89 ha.
The quality and integrity of the produce had been non-negotiable from the word go. This philosophy introduced by Willem still lives on in the second generation of this family’s farming enterprise headed by Nico Wagner.
