The cattle enterprise of 500 animals are kept with the game on a sweet savannah. It consists of a pure Boran and a pure Charolais herd as well as a commercial cross-bred herd. The latter has a Boran/Charolais mother line which are served by Charolais bulls to ensure maximum mass at weaning.
The best genetic material in the world are used for artificial insemination (AI) for the first third of the breeding season. For the rest of the season the farm’s own bulls are used. The quality of the cattle ensures continuous premium prices giving the farm a competitive advantage.
Johannes Senwamadi is the operational manager of this branch. He is fully trained in AI, pregnancy examinations, and general health management. Under his able supervision the herds boast a calving percentage of 88% and an inter-calf period of less than 400 days.
